2021 NBA Draft mock #29: Phoenix Suns: Terrance Shannon Jr.
The Suns are back in the playoffs for the first time since 2010. Adding Chris Paul to their young versatile squad has been a masterstroke. The veteran is the playmaker and floor general the team craved. Devin Booker is a two-time All-Star and Deandre Ayton continues to improve. The Suns are looking for shooters to put around their three pillars.
Shannon Jr. took a significant leap in his second season at Texas Tech. He averaged 12.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.1 steals in 26.7 minutes per game. The 20-year-old shot 44.8 percent from the field, 35.7 percent on his threes, and 75.6 percent from the free-throw line.
Shannon Jr. is a fringe first-round pick, but his size and developing jumper could push him up draft boards. He is listed at 6’6 and 210 pounds. Shannon Jr. has explosiveness and athleticism that jumps off the screen. Becoming an above-league average 3-point shooter could make him an NBA starter for a decade-plus.
The Phoenix Suns take a chance on Terrence Shannon’s potential as they continue to search for wings that will complement Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton.
