2021 NBA Draft mock #2: Houston Rockets: Jalen Suggs

The Houston Rockets are in the midst of a total rebuild after trading away James Harden midseason. They have clinched the worst record in the league but slipped one spot following the mock lottery. The Rockets have Christian Wood locked in at the five and will be looking for a playmaking guard or wing leaving the door wide open to select Jalen Suggs.

The 6’4 guard averaged 14.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.9 steals in 28.9 minutes per game. He shot 50.3 percent from the field, 33.7 percent on his threes, and 76.1 percent from the foul line in his lone college season. Suggs led Gonzaga to the NCAA title game where the Bulldogs suffered their only loss of the season.

The 19-year-old will continue to work on his jumper. He was 35 of 104 from the 3-point range this season. Suggs has the potential to be an above-average shooter, but it could take time.

He gives the Rockets a playmaking guard that can score from anywhere. Suggs profiles a plus-defender that is never afraid to take on the most difficult matchup. Houston should take best player available here. Suggs is NBA-ready with the potential to grow into a multiple-time All-Star.
