2021 NBA Draft mock #20: Atlanta Hawks: Greg Brown
The Hawks are back in the playoffs for the first time since 2017. They have plenty of depth after signing Danilo Gallinari and Bogdan Bogdanovic. Atlanta’s massive offseason decision revolves around what to do with John Collins. He will be a restricted free agent and could receive a near-max offer from another team. Are the Hawks willing to go well into the luxury tax to keep him?
If not, Atlanta could be looking for a young man to grow into his role. Brown is a raw talent that offers plenty of upside. The 6’9 forward averaged 9.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.0 block in 20.6 minutes per game during his lone season at Texas. He has elite athleticism and a plus wingspan.
Brown consistently dealt with foul trouble. He averaged 3.0 personal fouls per game. The 19-year-old may have to back off on the shot-blocking to limit his fouls.
Greg Brown is a raw prospect that will need time to develop. The Hawks have had success improving their recent selections. They could decide to take Brown with the hopes of helping him reach his considerable potential. The 6’9 forward must improve his shooting and defense. Stay tuned to see if he makes it happen.
