2021 NBA Draft mock #16: Boston Celtics: Isaiah Jackson
The Celtics continue to search for their starting center of the future. They used a revolving door this season that featured Tristian Thompson, Robert Williams, Luke Kornet, and Daniel Theis. Boston may be searching for a long-term answer at the position in the 2021 NBA Draft.
Jackson played just 20.8 minutes per game during his lone season at Kentucky, but he offers plenty of potential. He averaged 8.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks while shooting 54.0 percent from the field and 70.0 percent on his free throws.
Teams will be excited about his athleticism and rim protection, but Jackson has an extremely slight frame. He was listed at 6’10 and 206 pounds. For the 19-year-old to be a starting center in the NBA, he will need to add mass.
The Boston Celtics have a strong nucleus and can afford to take a chance on a high upside prospect in this draft. They would love to grab Isaiah Jackson if he is still available. The 19-year-old may be selected in the top ten if a team falls in love with his upside. The recent surge of Kentucky players shining in the NBA may also improve Jackson’s draft stock.
