2021 NBA Draft mock #14: Memphis Grizzlies: Corey Kispert
Kispert played four seasons at Gonzaga and improved each year. The 22-year-old averaged 18.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 0.9 steals in 31.8 minutes per game as a senior. He shot 52.9 percent from the field and 87.8 percent on his free throws. Kispert is an elite shooter. He made 40.8 percent of his 662 career NCAA 3-point tries.
Some NBA teams will knock his age, but the Grizzlies have proven they will select talent and production over upside. Kispert is an NBA-ready shooter that plays stout defense. He has a high basketball IQ and makes winning plays. Kispert could be selected in the top ten, but teams searching for upside are likely to pass on the role player.
Memphis has two budding stars in Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. They are searching for role players that can complement them. Kispert is not a ball-handler or playmaker. He will be a catch-and-shoot marksman that competes hard on the defensive end.
The 6’7 wing figures to make an immediate impact, and he should be a plus rotation for the next decade-plus. The Memphis Grizzlies are ecstatic to add his talent to their young nucleus.
