2021 NBA Draft mock #13: Indiana Pacers: Jalen Johnson

There are plenty of questions about Johnson heading into the draft. The 19-year-old played just 13 games at Duke before opting out to focus on the draft. He had a foot injury that cost him time, but Johnson did not play significant minutes in his final two games with the Blue Devils.

The stat line was impressive in the limited sample, though. Johnson averaged 11.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.2 blocks in 21.4 minutes per game. He shot 53.2 percent from the field and 44.4 percent on his 3-point tries.

Johnson is 6’9 and 220 pounds. He can get to the rim and has the athleticism to guard on the perimeter. Some team could fall in love with him and select him as high as six overall. Johnson may also drop into the late first round. His small sample size of games coupled with a questionable jumper could have organizations looking elsewhere.

The Pacers want to add talent on the wing. They have Domantas Sabonis, Caris LeVert, and Malcolm Brogdon locked in as their core. T.J. Warren should return next season. Will Indiana keep Myles Turner? Regardless, adding Jalen Johnson gives them an athletic wing with immense upside.
