2021 NBA Draft mock #11: Washington Wizards: Alperen Sengun
Sengun has three seasons of professional basketball under his belt. The 18-year-old averaged 19.6 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.7 blocks in 28.4 minutes per game over two competitions for Besiktas this season, according to RealGM. He shot 65.2 percent from the field and 79.3 percent on his free throws.
Sengun is listed at 6’10 and 240 pounds. He has dominated the paint in the Turkish League this season. The 18-year-old could be an elite roll man and finisher inside. He has a variety of moves and knows how to shake his defender. Sengun is going to compete on the glass and should be a strong rebounder in the NBA.
Some teams will question his height and lack of floor spacing ability. He made just four of his 23 3-point attempts this season. Sengun did shoot nearly 80 percent on his free throws, so teams may feel strongly that he can expand his range. The 18-year-old has a strong frame, but he lacks the height and wingspan of a traditional center.
The Wizards want to add a young five to build around long-term. Alperen Sengun offers plenty of upside for Washington as they look to amass talent.
