Jazz battle Suns for top spot and possible semifinal opponent for Dallas Mavericks
The Phoenix Suns are just one game behind the Utah Jazz after dominating the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday afternoon. They can still grab the number one seed in the Western Conference and homecourt advantage because they swept the season series against the Jazz.
Phoenix must defeat the San Antonio Spurs for the second straight day and have the Jazz fall to the Sacramento Kings. The Suns play at 1 p.m. CT on Sunday. They will have to await Utah’s result. The Jazz face Sacramento at 8 p.m. CT.
Both teams want the top seed and should be favored to win on May 16. The Jazz will be without Donovan Mitchell on Sunday. He has missed 15 straight games with an ankle injury. The 6’1 guard is expected to be reevaluated before the playoffs begin. Mike Conley returned in Utah’s last game and should play on Sunday against the Kings.
Prediction: Both teams win making Jazz top seed in the West
The Mavericks will be playing for which side of the playoff bracket they end up on in Minnesota on Sunday night. They want to stay fifth meaning they will be in position to face the number one seed in the second round of the playoffs.
