Mavericks stars Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis don’t have to be close to win
There are plenty of examples throughout NBA history of star players not getting along but winning games. Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal led the Lakers to the NBA Finals in 2004 just one month before the Diesel was traded to Miami.
LeBron James and Kyrie Irving won a title with the Cleveland Cavaliers together in 2016, but there was plenty of talk about their relationship. Irving was traded to the Celtics in 2017 just months after the Cavs lost in the NBA Finals. King James left for the Lakers the following year. Kendrick Perkins gave fans more information on the dynamic between the two back in December.
The Jazz have the best record in the NBA right now after multiple reports of their two stars not getting along just one year ago. NBA stars are massive personalities that knock heads from time to time. It is nothing new.
Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis would not be the first stars to not be close, but that does not keep them from winning. The duo will ultimately be judged by how they perform in the postseason. Remember, the Mavs had the Clippers on the ropes inside the bubble when KP was healthy. Do not count Dallas out.
