Pass or Pursue on Dallas Mavericks trade rumor: 2. Netting Evan Fournier
Jake Fischer’s story did not just feature the Norman Powell tidbits. He also reported the Mavs are the “loudest rumored team for Fournier”. The Magic have just 14 wins on the season and are already five games out of the play-in. Expect Orlando to be sellers at the deadline making Fournier and his $17 million expiring contract likely to be moved.
The Mavs miss Seth Curry’s elite shooting. They desire a secondary playmaker and capable third scorer. Fournier checks those boxes and gives them a versatile wing that is in the midst of a career year.
Dallas Mavericks should pursue an Evan Fournier trade
Fischer outlined a package in his article that would be ideal for Dallas. Parting with James Johnson and two second-round picks to get Fournier would be a fantastic piece of business by GM Donnie Nelson and the Mavs front office. Don’t Google has struggled in the playoffs, but that could change playing next to Luka Doncic.
Fournier’s ability to space the floor and make plays would be a massive boost to the Mavericks elite offense. The current Magic guard would give Dallas another weapon as it looks to make a deep playoff run. Keep an eye on Evan Fournier as the trade deadline approaches.
