Trade Dallas Mavericks should make before the deadline: 4. Get Gordon

The Magic have just 14 wins and appear to be heading in the wrong direction as they have lost nine of their last ten games. Could Orlando decide to sell and start a mini-rebuild? Aaron Gordon is set to make $16.4 million next season but needs a change of scenery to reach his peak.

The 25-year-old is a capable secondary playmaker that can rebound, defend, and score 15 points per game. Gordon checks all the boxes Dallas is looking for in a target. He is versatile and could help them move the ball on the offensive end. Gordon can defend three through five. He gives the Mavericks an option they lack on that end of the floor. Gordon’s developing jumper should make him a fit next to Kristaps Porzingis in the Mavs frontcourt.

The market to acquire Aaron Gordon will likely be robust. The Mavericks will need to make a strong offer. Would Josh Green, their 2025 first-round pick, and first-round pick swap in 2026 be enough? Do the Magic want to wait that long before cashing in? No, but the Mavs should be offering it. Grabbing Aaron Gordon makes Dallas a formidable contender heading into the stretch run.
