Dallas Mavericks trade target that fits perfectly with Luka Doncic: 2. J.J. Redick
The Mavs had an elite shooter in Seth Curry, but they traded him to Philadelphia for Josh Richardson and a second-round pick. Dallas needed to improve their defense to take the next step, and Curry was the price of accomplishing that goal. They have missed his shot-making ability, though.
The Mavericks could acquire another elite shooter in J.J. Redick at the deadline. Fans have seen the rumors connecting the two. The veteran is currently recovering from a heel injury, and the Pelicans appear committed to moving the veteran guard to a contender before March 25.
Redick has nailed 41.5 percent of his 3-point tries in his career and would unquestionably improve the Mavs floor spacing.
Dallas may be hesitant to trade for a 36-year-old guard, but there is always a premium to be paid for shooting. Redick remains an elite marksman, and he averaged over 15 points per game in the 2019-2020 season. The veteran is still capable of making a massive impact and is in the final year of his contract.
The Dallas Mavericks could acquire J.J. Redick as a bench piece that improves their chances of going on a deep playoff run in 2021. Gaining Luka Doncic that valuable experience would be worth a second-round pick or two.
