Dallas Mavericks legend to wear number 2: Jason Kidd
Jason Kidd played for four different teams during his nearly 19-year NBA career, including the Dallas Mavericks. Though his most notable statistical years may have come as a member of the Nets, he spent more time in a Mavericks uniform than any other team when you combine his two separate stints in Dallas.
Kidd wore number five in his first stint with the Mavericks, but he cemented his status as a legend while donning the number two as he helped captain the 2011 NBA champions. Not only did he pilot the Mavs to their first championship in franchise history, but he also made a significant impact on the franchise’s record books. Kidd ranks third in team history in steals and assists, plus second in triple-doubles.
Kidd was a two-time All-Star for the Mavericks as he made it ten times overall. He was elected into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2018, fully cementing himself as a Dallas Mavericks legend and overall NBA Icon.
J-Kidd is currently an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers. He won another ring in 2020. Things did not go as well for another Maverick to wear number two.
