Tyrell Terry is hurt by the Dallas Mavericks crowded backcourt
The Dallas Mavericks have a deep backcourt. Luka Doncic is an MVP candidate and the franchise player for the Dallas Mavericks. He will continue to play 35-plus minutes every game.
Jalen Brunson has the upside of a starting-caliber point guard. He boasts extremely high efficiency and runs the floor with poise. JB is the clear backup to Luka but deserves more minutes.
Trey Burke is a sparkplug off the bench. He has made a career off of scoring as an undersized guard. While he can be inconsistent, Burke is a proven veteran that plays his role.
The Mavs deep roster makes it difficult to find minutes for Terry. He is fourth on the depth chart with a difficult path to move up. The 20-year-old would need to supplant a veteran to get significant run.
Tyrell Terry should be trying to learn as much as he can from his teammates. He may be undersized as a two-guard, but his shooting and agility make him best suited as a combo guard rather than a pure point. Terry needs to show off his jumper in practice and continue to try to carve out minutes for himself at every opportunity.
