Takeaway from Dallas Mavericks preseason game 2 vs. Bucks: 4. Brunson added some tricks
The Mavs missed Jalen Brunson during the Walt Disney World restart. He was injured in February and opted to have shoulder surgery after the NBA suspended play back in March. Brunson did not travel to Orlando with the team as he finished his rehab.
The backup point guard is 100 percent now. He had ten points, two rebounds, four assists, and one steal in the preseason opener in the unit that dominated Milwaukee. Brunson put up 11 points, two rebounds, and two assists in 14 minutes for the encore. The Mavs are using him next to Trey Burke in a second unit that looks dynamic this preseason.
Brunson worked hard on his game after getting healthy. He is a smart player that makes winning plays, but fans have seen some new wrinkles from the 24-year-old in the first two games. JB is attacking the basket and nailing open jumpers. He added some craft in the paint, which should improve his finishing inside.
His minutes will be limited backing up Luka Doncic, but expect Jalen Brunson to produce his most efficient numbers leading the Dallas Mavericks second unit this season.
