The Dallas Mavericks had a breakthrough 2019-2020 season. Luka Doncic emerged as an MVP candidate as he led the Mavs back to the playoffs for the first time since 2016. Dallas got bounced in the first round by the LA Clippers but proved they will be a force going forward.

The Mavericks are hoping to jump into title contention in 2021. It will take internal growth plus adding pieces to round out their roster. Expect the front office to explore every avenue to improve the team including taking on a high-priced asset if it pushes them into the championship picture.

The Mavericks need a tough perimeter defender that can slow down elite scorers. They would love the addition to be a plus shooter and ball-handler with the ability to score at least 12 points per game.
