Player that might have played final game with Dallas Mavericks: 3. J.J. Barea

Mavs fans could be witnessing the end of an era this offseason. Barea has been a staple with the team including being the last member of their roster from the 2011 championship still in uniform. Yes, he had a stint with the Timberwolves, but it would be strange seeing Barea on a different team. He is a Maverick.

Reports suggest the veteran was frustrated with his role this season. For the first time in over a decade, Barea was not the primary backup point guard. There were multiple nights where he was a DNP-CD. J.J. wants to play more, but the Mavericks do not have additional minutes to give him. Fans can read more about all of that here.

Barea noted that he prefers to play in the NBA next season, but would even be open to moving overseas. There will be teams worldwide clamoring for his services. Barea is one of the best pick and roll ball handlers on the planet. His athleticism and quickness have diminished with age and the devastating Achilles injury he suffered in 2019, but there is still plenty of basketball left in Barea.

It will be interesting to see what happens. Will J.J. Barea be back with the Dallas Mavericks next season? Does he move on to play elsewhere? Stay tuned to find out.
