Player that might have played final game with Dallas Mavericks: Bonus. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist

The Mavs signed Kidd-Gilchrist to a rest of the season contract after he was bought out by the Hornets in February. They needed a physical defender on the perimeter. Kidd-Gilchrist provided Dallas with some key minutes in the playoffs matching up on Kawhi Leonard, but he is once again an unrestricted free agent.

This is an obvious place the Mavericks can upgrade their roster, though. MKG is a plus defender, but his offensive game is extremely limited. His inability to shoot does not mesh well in Dallas. The Mavs certainly worked on his jumper, but the Hornets tried from the day he was drafted and little came of it. The team likely wants a better fit with Luka Doncic.

Signing a 3-and-D wing does not eliminate the possibility of bringing back MKG. What role is he willing to accept, though? Would Kidd-Gilchrist be fine as an end of the bench in case of an emergency role? He played it this season, but that does not mean he is happy to do it long-term.

There are questions, and fans will have to wait to see how it unfolds this offseason. Fans can read more about the odds of the Mavs re-sign Michael Kidd-Gilchrist here.
