2020 NBA Draft mock 5.0: First 31 picks in early October

2020 NBA Draft mock #23: Utah Jazz- Tre Jones
The Jazz have both Jordan Clarkson and Emmanuel Mudiay heading into unrestricted free agency this offseason meaning they will be hunting for two point guards behind Mike Conley. With over $117 million in committed salary already, re-signing both Clarkson and Mudiay is unlikely.
Utah will attempt to bring Clarkson back but will be searching for another point guard in the draft. Tre Jones had an outstanding second season at Duke and profiles as a strong two-way option. The 20-year-old averaged 16.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 6.4 assists, and 1.8 steals in 35.4 minutes per game. He made massive improvements in his jump shooting, playmaking, and scoring.
Jones was also named ACC Defensive Player of the Year in 2020 and made the All-Defensive team two straight years. He plays with a ton of energy and effort to go with his quickness and high basketball IQ. The 6’3 guard should have no issues checking lead ball-handlers in the NBA.
Tre Jones is ready for NBA minutes, but the Jazz will not have to rush him. They figure to have plenty of options and can allow Jones to acclimate in a smaller role. Fans saw with Donovan Mitchell that Utah has no issues throwing a player in when they believe he is ready to make a massive impact.
