2020 NBA Draft mock 5.0: First 31 picks in early October

2020 NBA Draft mock #18: Dallas Mavericks- Saddiq Bey
Things broke right in this mock draft for Dallas. If they decide to keep this pick, the Mavericks would love to add an NBA-ready 3-and-D wing. A player that can space the floor for Luka Doncic on offense without commanding the ball while playing above-average defense. The draft has multiple players that fit that profile, but there is a chance they are all taken before the Mavs select at 18 overall.
Bey took a massive leap in his second season at Villanova. He averaged 16.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 0.8 steals in 33.9 minutes per game while shooting 47.7 percent from the field and 76.9 percent on his free throws. Bey was one of the best shooters in the NCAA this season by connecting on 45.1 percent of his 173 3-point attempts.
The 6’8 wing offers defensive versatility too. Do not be surprised if the Dallas Mavericks help him grow into a player that can guard one through five. He has the footwork and quickness to stay in front of guards and a strong frame to develop as an inside defender.
The Mavs would be ecstatic about this selection. Saddiq Bey could come off the bench and give them a strong floor spacer and defender in their second unit. Do not be surprised to see him earning minutes next to Luka Doncic after he adjusts to the NBA.
