2020 NBA Draft mock #12: Sacramento Kings- Precious Achiuwa

The Kings made a regime chance this offseason with Vlade Divac stepping down as GM and Monte McNair taking over. Nobody knows how they are viewing the current roster. Buddy Hield may want out of Sacramento, and Bogdan Bogdanovic is a restricted free agent meaning there could be plenty of shakeups with the Kings this offseason.

As currently constructed they could use another big man or combo forward. They have Marvin Bagley, Richaun Holmes, and Nemanja Bjelica, but lack the player that can switch defensively onto the perimeter.

Precious Achiuwa gives them that. The 6’9 forward can guard one through five with his quickness, athleticism, and 7’2 wingspan, creating a ton of excitement among NBA scouts.

He averaged 15.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 1.9 blocks in 30.4 minutes per game during his lone season at Memphis. Achiuwa’s offensive game is a work in progress, though. There is plenty of potential, including a developing 3-point shot, but he must improve his overall decision making.

The Kings take a shot on his high ceiling and draft Achiuwa in the late lottery. Sacramento could pivot from this pick depending on how they shape their roster. The Kings will certainly be a team to watch in what could be a wild offseason.
