Dallas Mavericks: 5 steps to winning the NBA title in 2021

Step for Dallas Mavericks to win NBA title in 2021: 4. Round out with veterans
Step four may not just be in the offseason. The Mavericks need to round out their roster with veterans by the time they reach the playoffs.
Look no further than the two teams in the NBA Finals in Orlando. The Lakers had a strong cast of veterans around LeBron and AD, but still added Markieff Morris, J.R. Smith, and Dion Waiters since February. Miami did the same with Andre Iguodala, Jae Crowder, and Solomon Hill. Having a strong group of veterans with playoff experience matters.
It should be a focus for the Mavericks both this offseason and at the trade deadline. They wisely traded for Willie Cauley-Stein after Dwight Powell’s season-ending injury and added Michael Kidd-Gilchrist after he was bought out by the Hornets. The front office needs to continue to make those types of moves.
Fans know from the 2011 title run that every role player has at least one stand out game that helps the team win it all. The Dallas Mavericks need a stronger cast there to ensure they pick up those additional crucial playoff contests. They have the two star players but need to fill in around them.
