Dallas Mavericks: 5 trades that would land Victor Oladipo

Trade that would land Victor Oladpio on Dallas Mavericks: 4. Mavs hit the home run
The Mavs would be ecstatic about this trade, but the Pacers still get enough to make it work. Indiana finished sixth in defensive rating last season. That was their calling card even with Oladipo being limited to 19 games because of injuries. Finney-Smith and Delon Wright are two of the Mavericks’ best defenders. Acquiring them would allow Indiana to build on that strength.
The Pacers also get both of Dallas’ selections in the 2020 NBA Draft and the expiring contract of Justin Jackson. The draft picks give them a shot at adding long-term fits next to Domantas Sabonis and Malcolm Brogdon.
The Mavericks would love this deal because they can just insert Oladipo into Finney-Smith’s spot in the starting five and go next season. The former All-Star would be Dallas’ best perimeter defender. Mavs coach Rick Carlisle would likely stagger the minutes, so Dallas had two stars on the floor at all times. They would be one of the most dangerous teams in the NBA with Oladipo.
The Pacers are going to ask for more, but what if the market is soft? The 28-year-old is only under contract for next season and has had injury problems in the past. Teams could shy away opening the door for Dallas to steal another superstar.
