Dallas Mavericks: Robert Woodard II weaknesses

Teams use free throw shooting as an indicator of shooting ability. Woodard improved to 64.1 percent at the line this season, but NBA organizations would prefer that to be closer to 80 for a wing.

Woodard took most of his threes from above the break this season. When he got in the corner, the 20-year-old connected on just 36 percent per NBA Stats. Teams will want him to increase his attempts and improve his percentage from that area.

Woodard struggles with the ball in his hands. He produced just 1.3 assists per game this season. The former Bulldog does not have much to offer in terms of ball-handling and playmaking.

Woodard can be a solid NBA player. He will be asked to play his role. The 20-year-old’s shooting will be the key to his playing time. If he does not stay over 40 percent from 3-point range, Woodard will be an energy wing defender off the bench.

There seems to be a slight hitch in Woodard’s shot that leads to a slower release. That will be something to monitor in the NBA. Does it need to be fixed? Can his new team do that? It is worth monitoring during his NBA career.
