The Dallas Mavericks were eliminated by the LA Clippers in the first round of the playoffs. They won two games and made it a series against the title favorites. Mavs fans will always have the what-if of Kristaps Porzingis’ health. They were playing fantastic with the Unicorn in the lineup.

The Mavericks are hoping to take another step forward in 2021. Roster improvements will be necessary to make it happen. Dallas can count on some internal growth, but they need outside help too. The Mavs had nobody capable of defending Kawhi Leonard in the playoffs. They also lacked the toughness of the Clippers. Dallas will be concentrating on improving its overall defense too.

Bleacher Report has the Mavs acquiring Patrick Beverley from the LA Clippers. In return, they send Maxi Kleber, Delon Wright, and the 31st overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. That is a hefty price to pay for Dallas.

The Clippers are unlikely to part with Pat Bev. He has two years and over $27.6 million left on his contract. LA wants to stay in title contention. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George will be back with the Clippers. Beverley is an outstanding defender and key piece in LA.
