Why Dallas Mavericks should sign Goran Dragic: 5. Floor spacing

The Mavs have done well finding shooters to put around Luka Doncic. It makes life easier for the 21-year-old star. Fans know he can get to the rim and finish with the best of them. Doncic also has an incredible ability to find open teammates. It is why Dorian Finney-Smith, Maxi Kleber, Jalen Brunson, and Tim Hardaway Jr. all shot career-high 3-point percentages this season.

Goran Dragic is an outstanding floor spacer. He has connected on 37.5 percent of his 1,091 3-point attempts over the last four seasons combined. That includes hitting 38.7 percent of his 667 catch and shoot threes.

No team shot more catch and shoot 3-pointers this season than the Dallas Mavericks. They took 2,050. The Rockets were the only other team over 1,900 this regular season.

Dragic also connected on 38.3 percent of his open threes (defender at least four away) over the last four seasons per NBA Stats. Dallas attempted 2,655 of those shots this season. They would have no issues getting Dragic open looks which he knocks down consistently.

The veteran would give the Dallas Mavericks another floor spacer to improve the NBA’s best offense. Goran Dragic is a lot more than just a shooter, though.
