Dallas Mavericks: 5 reasons why they sign Giannis Antetokounmpo in 2021

Why the Dallas Mavericks sign Giannis Antetokounmpo in 2021: 5. To win a ring
Antetokounmpo has everything he could want in Milwaukee. He won MVP. His team had the best regular-season record two straight seasons. The Bucks can offer Giannis the most money. The only reason for him to leave would be to win a championship.
Milwaukee has two more chances to achieve that goal before he hits free agency. If they do not, it is his lone reason to depart.
It would not be the first time this happened. LeBron James played seven seasons in Cleveland before joining Dwyane Wade in Miami. The Cavaliers had made the playoffs five straight years including the NBA Finals in 2007. James won two rings in Miami before returning to Cleveland in 2014.
If Antetokounmpo leaves, he would be looking to pair with another superstar. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George did it in 2019 with the Clippers. Multiple teams are projected to have space in 2021. None offer the star power of the Dallas Mavericks, though.
Giannis could team with LeBron James and/or Anthony Davis in LA, but James would be 36 years old. Partnering with Anthony Davis gives them a superstar frontcourt, but would be light on cap space to fill the roster around them.
The Mavericks have Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. Two stars plus a solid cast of role players are already in place. Giannis would make them immediate title contenders and one of the scariest teams in the NBA. Dallas had the number one offense this season. Antetokounmpo gives them the best individual defender too. The rest of the league is dreading this potential scenario.
