2020 NBA Draft mock #16: Portland Trail Blazers- Cole Anthony

The Blazer fought their way into the playoffs during the seeding games. They won six of eight and a play-in game over the Grizzlies to qualify. It is their seventh straight year in the postseason. Portland could be searching for a sixth man scorer off the bench behind Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum.

Cole Anthony entered the season as a projected top-five pick. He saw his stock slip as he dealt with injuries and poor shooting. The Tar Heels finished 6-14 which was their first under .500 season since 2002. The struggles have Anthony as one of the wildcards in this draft. He could be taken in the top ten or outside the top 20.

The 20-year-old gets buckets. He averaged 18.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in 34.9 minutes per game this season. Anthony shot 38.0 percent from the field and 34.8 percent on his 3-point tries.

Some team will take a gamble on his upside. Anthony’s scoring and playmaking ability make him an intriguing prospect. He will need to improve his shot selection, instincts, and defense to reach his ceiling. The Blazers have had success with smaller guards making them a logical choice to draft Cole Anthony.
