How Dallas Mavericks could change it up without Kristaps Porzingis: 3. Rebounding

Rebounding was a key to this series coming in. The Clippers won all three regular-season meetings. They had dominated Dallas on the glass, especially with offensive boards.

The Mavs have improved in this series. Through four games, the team that had more rebounds won the game each time. Surprisingly, the Mavericks had the biggest disparity in game four without the 7’3 Kristaps Porzingis. They finished with a 54 to 41 edges on the boards.

If KP sits, that means more minutes for Boban Marjanovic. He played nearly 16 minutes in game four. Bobi is the Mavericks’ best rebounder. The 7’4 big man grabbed seven on Sunday afternoon.

Everyone did their part on the glass in game four. Luka Doncic finished with 17 rebounds in a monster 43-point triple-double. That allows Dallas to get into their offense quicker with Doncic immediately bringing the ball up the floor.

Maxi Kleber and Dorian Finney-Smith need to grab rebounds if Porzingis is out. Combined they had 16 in game four. The Mavericks need those boards. The Clippers feast off easy putbacks and extra possessions. Dallas must keep those to a minimum in game five.
