Dallas Mavericks key to victory over LA Clippers: 1. KP dominating

Mavs fans know Luka Doncic is going to post massive numbers and keep the team in games. The key to winning is Kristaps Porzingis.

Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle has been staggering the minutes of Luka and KP during the restart. Dallas needs to maintain leads when Doncic is on the bench, and Porzingis is the focal point of the offense.

The Unicorn has played poorly against the Clippers this season. He averages 18.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.0 blocks per over the three games. KP has shot 34.7 percent from the field and 30.4 percent on his 3-point attempts. LA does well at making life difficult on Porzingis. 19 of his 49 field goal tries have come with the nearest defender within four feet per NBA Stats.

Kristaps had 30 points in the bubble meeting with nine rebounds and five assists. He also connected on all nine of his free throw attempts. The Mavericks need that type of production to pull the upset. If KP shoots poorly, Dallas will make a quick exit from the playoffs.
