How Dallas Mavericks star Kristaps Porzingis matches up against Clippers

Porzingis has also struggled against the Clippers this season. He averaged 18.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.0 steal, and 1.0 block over the three meetings. KP is shooting 34.7 percent from the field and 30.4 percent on his 3-point tries. Not great numbers.

Porzingis took advantage of the bubble meeting, though. The Mavs star had 30 points, nine boards, five dimes, and one block.

KP has been playing his best basketball in Orlando. The Clippers do not have any player that matches up well against him. The Unicorn can take advantage of Ivica Zubac and Montrezl Harrell on the outside. He needs to punish the small defenders down low. Porzingis will need to step up if Dallas is going to pull the upset.

Zubac made KP pay down low when the Clippers had the ball. He is four of eight from the field when matched up against the 7’3 Unicorn this season. Zubac also dominates the glass. He has grabbed 12 offensive rebounds in 61 minutes against Dallas this season. Porzingis needs to find a way to change both in the playoff series.

Kristaps Porzingis is the key to the matchup. The Clippers will try to take the ball out of Luka’s hands as much as possible. Porzingis needs to score, rebound, and play solid defense if Dallas is going to win.
