Dallas Mavericks: 5 things we learned in the loss to LA Clippers in Orlando

The Dallas Mavericks played their fourth seeding game against the LA Clippers on Aug. 6. They had just one win coming into the contest. Luka Doncic and the Mavs were still looking for their first victory over a playoff team from inside the bubble.

The game was a playoff preview. The Mavericks slow start in Orlando has virtually locked them into the seventh seed in the Western Conference. That means a date with the number two in the first round. They do not have it locked up quite yet, but that will be the Clippers.

Dallas lost both meetings before the NBA suspended play. It was a close game until the last six minutes on Thursday thanks to Kristaps Porzingis. The Clippers closed on a 25-10 run to defeat the Mavericks 126-111 from Walt Disney World.

Both teams were missing players in Thursday’s matchup. Patrick Beverley and Montrezl Harrell were out for the Clippers. Lou Williams was limited to 20 minutes as he is still working his way into shape after his ten-day quarantine. Mavericks starting guard Seth Curry on the bench with a leg injury.

Despite the absences, there was plenty to learn from Thursday’s game. That is especially important because it will not be long before we see these two teams facing off in the playoffs. Here is a look at five things Dallas Mavericks fans figured out on Aug. 6.
