2020 NBA Draft mock 3.0: Which player will Dallas Mavericks select?

NBA Mock Draft #6: Detroit Pistons- Onyeka Okongwu
Detroit also dropped one spot because Phoenix moved up into the top four. The Pistons roster is completely in flux. They traded Andre Drummond at the deadline. Blake Griffin is their star, but he played just 18 games this season. The six-time All-Star has just one season since 2015 where he appeared in over 70. Detroit has a few pieces but looks headed for a long-term rebuild.
That means drafting the top player available which is Okongwu. The 19-year-old had an outstanding lone season at USC. He averaged 16.2 points, 8.6 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 2.7 blocks in 30.6 minutes per game. Okongwu shot 61.6 percent from the field and 72.0 percent on his free throws.
The former Trojan is a center that creates havoc down low. He should be a plus vertical spacer that finishes well around the rim.
Okongwu also profiles as a rim protector and defensive anchor. The Pistons were 22nd in defensive rating this season and traded away the NBA’s best rebounder. Okongwu will try to fill Drummond’s shoes in Detroit.
He is one of the most interesting prospects because some believe he can develop a reliable 3-point shot. That would add a floor-spacing element to his already intriguing skill set. He attempted just four triples at USC, but it could be in the works.
