NBA Mock Draft #11: San Antonio Spurs- Kira Lewis Jr.

The Spurs are an aging team that looks to be on the verge of a total rebuild. DeMar DeRozan has a player option for next season at $27.7 million. No word yet on which way he wants to go there. LaMarcus Aldridge only has one year left on his deal. San Antonio has some pieces but could lose both their stars by the start of the 2021-2022 season.

That is exactly why they draft Kira Lewis Jr. with their first lottery pick since 1997. The 19-year-old averaged 18.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.8 steals, and 0.6 blocks in 37.6 minutes per game this season. He shot 45.9 percent from the field and 36.6 percent on his 3-point tries.

Lewis Jr. could go down as the best player in this class. He made a massive leap between his first and second year at Alabama. His blazing speed leaps off the screen. Lewis Jr. creates turnovers and makes the opposition pay in transition.

He is also a plus shooter with immense defensive potential. The Spurs were 28th in 3-pointers attempted this season and ranked 24th in defensive rating. Lewis Jr. is a natural fit and gives San Antonio a point guard to build the team around moving forward.
