2020 NBA Draft mock 3.0: Which player will Dallas Mavericks select?

NBA Mock Draft #9: Charlotte Hornets- Obi Toppin
The Hornets slipped one spot after the Suns moved up in the lottery. Charlotte should take the best player available. Devonte Graham had a breakout season. They have recent lottery picks Miles Bridges and P.J. Washington improving each day. The Hornets struggled on offense this season. They ranked 28th in offensive rating and 30th in points scored per game.
That makes taking Obi Toppin an easy decision. The 22-year-old was one of the best scorers in the NCAA last season. He averaged 20.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.0 3-pointer made in 31.6 minutes per game. Toppin shot 63.3 percent from the field and 39.0 percent on his 3-point tries.
He is ready to get buckets in the NBA. The Hornets will want him to improve his playmaking, but Toppin should have little issues scoring both inside and on jumpers.
There are questions about his defense. The numbers were strong at Dayton. Toppin averaged 1.0 steal and 1.2 blocks per game. He is 6’9 and 220 pounds too. He could be better than expected with room to grow.
It would not be surprising to see Toppin go higher on draft night. He is one of many players in this class with a wide selection range.
