Dallas Mavericks: Should they trade for Aaron Gordon? Will they?

Why the Dallas Mavericks should trade for Aaron Gordon
Brian Windhorst of ESPN reported that the Mavericks wanted a player that could score 15 points per game with size at the deadline. Fans can read more about that here. The Mavs could also use a secondary playmaker to take a little pressure off Luka Doncic too.
Gordon fits that profile. He had a bit of down season in Orlando. Over the last three combined, Gordon averages 16.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in 33.3 minutes per game.
The 6’8 forward is a plus defender too. The Mavericks have the best offense in the NBA this season but sit just 17th in defensive rating. Gordon gives them a switchable option that ranked 30th in ESPN’s defensive real plus-minus.
For those doubting Gordon’s defense look no further than what he did against Luka Doncic. According to NBA Stats, he matched up on the Mavericks superstar for just over 15.5 minutes during the two meetings. Doncic was five of 16 from the field and missed all seven of his threes with Gordon defending.
Aaron Gordon would certainly provide the Dallas Mavericks with a boost on both ends of the floor. The 24-year-old fits the Mavs timeline and still has room to improve too.
