Dallas Mavericks: Should they trade for Aaron Gordon? Will they?
The Dallas Mavericks are focused on the season’s restart in Orlando. Their first seeding game takes place on July 31 against the Houston Rockets. The Mavericks will be looking to move up and go on a deep playoff run during the Walt Disney World restart.
Looking ahead, the team has two young cornerstones to build around. Luka Doncic has been one of the best players in the NBA this season. The 21-year-old started in the All-Star game and figures to be on the All-NBA team when it is announced. Kristaps Porzingis came back healthy from his torn ACL and looked to be returning to his All-Star form before the shutdown.
The Mavericks want to add the pieces that make them yearly title contenders before Doncic signs a max contract. They have two offseasons to acquire that talent. In 2020, the Mavs will need to do it by trade. They should have cap space in 2021 to sign a big-name free agent, but that does not mean Dallas gets one.
