Why Victor Oladipo is the perfect trade target for Dallas Mavericks: 4. Floor spacer

Oladipo is a career 35.0 percent 3-point shooter from downtown. That is a tick below league average, but far from tells the entire story. Since being traded to Indiana, Oladipo has hit 38.1 percent of his 333 catch and shoot 3-point attempts.

Now, add him to the Mavericks. Coach Rick Carlisle will want Luka Doncic to be the lead ball handler. That means more spot up opportunities for Oladipo playing with the best playmaker of his career.

The added floor spacing provided by Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis could cause his percentage tick up. Over his three years in Indiana, Oladipo has connected on 36.3 percent of his threes classified as open or wide open by NBA Stats.

It would not be surprising to see his field goal percentage tick up too. 22.5 percent of his attempts have come from 16 feet to the 3-point line during his time in Indiana. The Mavs may try to switch those attempts into threes or shots closer to the basket. Eliminating mid-range jumpers has done wonders for Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis this season.

The 28-year-old would be more than a catch and shoot option too. The Mavericks could mix things up and add plenty of new wrinkles to their offense.
