Since 2014, every team that has made it to the NBA Finals was in the top five in offensive rating during the regular season. The team with the top mark has made the finals four times in the last ten years including winning two championships.

The Mavericks have the best offensive rating this season by a wide margin. They sit at 115.8 which is 2.4 points ahead of the second-place Rockets. The Clippers, Lakers, and Celtics round out the top five. That means four of the top five are in the Western Conference.

Dallas does not just have the top offensive rating this season, though. Their mark is the best one in NBA history. Of the top five all-time, three have won championships with the fourth being the 2019 Warriors.
