Why Dallas Mavericks star Kristaps Porzingis unstoppable in NBA Orlando: 2. Finding his shot

One of the major questions coming into the season was how well would Porzingis shoot in his first season with Dallas. Coming off a significant knee injury it is not uncommon for percentages to be down. KP’s career numbers are a bit all over the board too. He hit 39.5 percent from 3-point range during his All-Star season, but only 34.6 during his first two years. Where would he stand?

Porzingis started slow hitting just 32.6 percent over his first 24 games. He was also under 40 percent from the field. The rust and adjusting to his new role were taking a toll.

Then, he had a seven-game stretch of hitting 38.9 percent from 3-point range right before missing ten games with a knee injury. Had he stayed healthy, that was likely the beginning of him finding his new level. The injury slowed him even after his return, though.

Porzingis shot 36.4 percent from 3-point over that 15 game sample just before the suspension in play. He had located his jumper. Expect it to be an above league average rate in Orlando too. Do not be surprised to see KP produce his best numbers because he will be fully healthy and have his legs under him.

Fans can see Porzingis has been working on his jumper in recent weeks. He looks more than ready for NBA Disney.
