Why Kristaps Porzingis will be unstoppable in NBA Orlando: 3. Healthy Dallas Mavericks

The Mavs were struggling a bit leading up to the suspensions in play because of injuries. Coach Carlisle appeared to settle on a starting lineup of Seth Curry, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Tim Hardaway Jr. flanking Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis after Powell’s injury. That unit started just eight of the Mavericks’ final 24 games before the suspension.

It was not just one player going down either. Porzingis missed five of those games to rest on the second night of back-to-backs. Doncic sat out nine times with ankle and wrist injuries. Curry missed six games with Finney-Smith sitting three. Hardaway Jr. was the healthiest being out only one time over that stretch. Combined they missed exactly 24 games.

The positive news is the Mavericks should be healthy to start NBA Orlando. Powell will be out after tearing his Achilles. Coach Carlisle also said Jalen Brunson is on sidelines for the season’s conclusion after shoulder surgery. The rest of the team should be 100 percent entering camp.

The Mavericks have the best offense in the NBA for a reason. It should only improve with Kristaps Porzingis firing on all cylinders and the Mavs fully healthy. Expect the entire unit to be difficult to stop during NBA Disney.
