NBA Mock Draft #2: Charlotte Hornets- James Wiseman

The Hornets had some lottery luck in our mock. They moved up six spots to number two overall. Charlotte has another difficult decision on their hands with a lot of worthy options.

Wiseman only played three games for Memphis after being suspended by the NCAA. He was viewed as the number one player by most outlets coming out of high school in 2019.

Wiseman is 7’1 and 240 pounds. Wiseman has plus length, and his athletic ability stands out. Teams will be drooling over his potential as a rim protector and defensive anchor that could guard a bit on the perimeter. Wiseman is also a strong rebounder and scorer. The tape remains limited, but he could be a dangerous roll man early on.

It will likely take him some time to reach his ceiling. Big men are often foul prone when entering the NBA. That could be made worse by the fact Wiseman had limited college experience. It would not be shocking to see his minutes hampered a bit during his rookie season.

The Hornets could use a center. Devonte Graham is coming off a breakout season. They paid Terry Rozier. Their last two first round lottery picks are forwards. The Hornets need someone with superstar potential too. Wiseman is a fit in Charlotte.
