NBA Mock Draft #28: Toronto Raptors- Nico Mannion

Mannion was a consensus lottery pick coming into the season, but his year with Arizona did not go as planned. The 19-year-old started 32 games. He struggled to find his shot, though. Mannion hit 39.2 percent from the field and 32.7 percent of his 3-point tries. That has caused his stock to slip.

The counting stats were strong. Mannion averaged 14.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.2 steals in 32.3 minutes per game.

He is a true point guard. Mannion has a solid handle, high basketball IQ, and good vision. The former Wildcat will hand out buckets.

There are major questions, though. The shooting first and foremost. Mannion also struggled on his twos. He did not finish well in traffic and does not have the quickness to blow past defenders. His defensive rating was strong, but some wonder if he has the ability to stay in front of the NBA’s elite guards.

The Raptors have Kyle Lowry and Fred VanVleet. That allows Mannion to come in and work on his shooting. He could be the long-term replacement for the 34-year-old Lowry if he reaches his ceiling. This is the range to take a shot on a player with potential plus one NBA skill already.
