NBA Mock Draft #21: Denver Nuggets (via Rockets)- Patrick Williams

Williams is one of the youngest players in the 2020 NBA Draft class. He does not turn 19 until August 6. Teams will value that with his combination of his size and upside. Williams lists at 6’8 and 225 pounds. He has length and athletic ability to go with it.

His stats do not jump off the page. Williams averaged 9.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.0 steal, and 1.0 block in 22.5 minutes per game during his lone season at Florida State. He connected on 45.9 percent from the field, 32.0 percent of his threes, and 83.8 percent from the foul line.

Williams needs to improve his shooting. That floor spacing element will be key to his long-term potential in the NBA.

Teams will latch on to his defensive upside. He can guard multiple positions and create havoc with his length.

Williams is a project. He did not start a single game at Florida State this season. The Nuggets are one of the deepest teams in the NBA. They can afford to put Williams in the G League and let him develop. The ceiling is high, but there is bust potential. Expect the 18-year-old to be picked in the first round on draft night.
