NBA Mock Draft #20: Brooklyn Nets (via 76ers)- Josh Green
Green is a 19-year-old from Australia. He played his lone season of NCAA basketball at Arizona. The young wing showed plenty of tools over those 30 games.
Green averaged 12.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.5 steals in 30.9 minutes per game. He shot 42.4 percent from the field, 36.1 percent on his threes, and 78.0 percent from the foul line.
Green has potential as a 3-and-D option in the NBA. He is 6’6 with plus length and athleticism. His 3-point numbers were strong, but the mechanics are a bit questionable. Many players have had success with unique jumpers. It will be interesting to see how well his shooting numbers translate to the NBA.
Green should have no problem checking guards and wings. He weighs 210 pounds and moves his feet well enough to stay in front of them on the perimeter. That may be his calling card to earn minutes in his first few seasons in the NBA.
Josh Green has considerable potential, but may not be ready to be a significant contributor as a rookie. Expect the 19-year-old to need some time to adjust to the NBA. He could make noise as a 3-and-D role player for over a decade, though.
