NBA Mock Draft #19: Milwaukee Bucks (via Pacers)- Jaden McDaniels
McDaniels entered the year as a surefire lottery pick. He is 6’9 with length and athleticism. The 19-year-old has an interesting skill set to go with it. He showed flashes of scoring, shooting, playmaking, and defensive abilities. The consistency was not there, though.
McDaniels averaged 13.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.8 steals, and 1.4 blocks in 31.1 minutes per game. He sank 40.5 percent from the field, 33.9 percent of threes, and 76.3 percent from the free throw line.
Fouls were a problem at Washington. He averaged 3.3 per and fouled out eight times in 31 games. That could become an even bigger problem in the NBA.
McDaniels also averaged 3.2 turnovers per game during his lone NCAA season. The 19-year-old needs to improve his consistency and decision-making.
The former Huskies forward has immense potential, though. Teams will salivate over his ability to handle the ball, shoot, and play defense. McDaniels has a high ceiling, but the production will be inconsistent early on.
The Bucks love to draft high upside players with length. Jaden McDaniels fits that mold. Milwaukee will hope they can unlock his potential over the next three years. If they do, this could go down as one of the best picks of the 2020 NBA Draft.
