NBA Mock Draft #1: Golden State Warriors- Anthony Edwards

The number one pick appears completely up in the air. Usually, there are one or two players that teams have zoned in on as the top option. This year, it feels like that group could feature as many as seven players depending on which team wins the lottery.

Anthony Edwards is 6’5 and 225 lbs. He will play on the wing in the NBA. Edwards has impressive athleticism and bounce. He threw down multiple poster dunks during his lone season at Georgia. Edwards stands out for his ability to create his own shot and score.

The former Bulldog averaged 19.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.3 steals in 33.0 minutes per game. He shot just 40.2 percent from the field and 29.4 percent on his threes. Those numbers may not tell the entire story, though. Edwards did not have a stellar cast around him at Georgia. That forced him to take a plethora of difficult long-range shots throughout the season.

It would be interesting to see him with the Warriors. Reports say he will be Golden State’s selection if they retain the first pick after the lottery.

Edwards does not turn 19 years old until August. He would immediately fit in as a scoring wing. The floor spacing provided by Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson could make Edwards incredibly dangerous early on. Experts tout his star potential too. Consider him the favorite to go number one overall in the 2020 NBA Draft right now.
