NBA Mock Draft #18: Dallas Mavericks- Saddiq Bey

Bey had a breakout in his second year at Villanova. The 21-year-old averaged 16.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 0.8 steals in 33.9 minutes per game. He is a consistent shooter and floor spacer. Bey hit 47.7 percent from the field, 45.1 percent of his threes, and 76.9 percent from the free throw line this season.

He is nearly the perfect fit for the Mavericks. Bey could be a 40 percent 3-point shooter in Dallas as a rookie. He performs well off the catch. Luka Doncic would have no issues finding him for plenty of open looks.

Bey was also the Wildcats’ best defender. He had the versatility to guard one through four. Bey stands 6’8 with plus length. Expect him to make an impact on the defensive end as a rookie.

Bey is a plug and play pick. He will be a 3-and-D option on the wing for an NBA team for the next decade-plus.

The Mavericks would love to have him. He can play either forward spot. Bey will concentrate on the defensive end and hit his open looks. Expect him to be near the top of the Mavs draft board throughout the process. Some team may value his ability to immediately contribute before he falls to Dallas at 18, though.
