NBA Mock Draft #15: Orlando Magic- Cole Anthony

Where Anthony lands on draft night will be one of the more interesting stories of the 2020 NBA Draft. He was projected as a top-five pick coming into the season. An injury coupled with poor shooting caused his draft stock to slip as UNC unexpectedly struggled. How will he fall? Nobody knows yet.

Anthony averaged 18.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.3 steals during his lone season at North Carolina. He shot just 38.0 percent from the field and 34.8 percent on his threes, though.

Shooting percentages aside those are strong numbers. UNC lacked the spacing to let Anthony thrive. His shot selection was questionable and will be something he needs to improve in the NBA, but he has raw tools to mold.

His defense is another issue. Anthony is 6’3 with the quickness to stay in front of guards. He needs to lock in and be more consistent on this end of the floor.

Some team will take a shot on Anthony’s upside. He could go higher on draft night, but the Magic are an organization that could use his scoring and playmaking ability. The 20-year-old figures to be one of the stories of draft night.
