NBA Mock Draft #14: Portland Trail Blazers- Precious Achiuwa

Achiuwa’s athletic ability makes him one of the most tantalizing prospects in the 2020 NBA Draft class. He has a wide-range on where he ends up landing, though. A lot of it boils down to upside versus consistency.

Achiuwa averaged 15.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 1.9 blocks in 30.4 minutes per game during his lone season at Memphis.

His rebounding and defensive abilities will bring NBA teams to the table. Achiuwa can guard any player on the court. He is 6’9 with a 7’2 wingspan. Add that to his athletic ability, and it is easy to see why scouts are intrigued.

The offensive game is where the questions lie. Achiuwa averaged just 1.0 assist per game this season. He has an attacking mentality and fails to find open teammates when the defense collapses. Achiuwa hit 32.5 percent of his 3-point tries too. The former Tiger has a lot of room to grow on the offensive end.

The Blazers have their backcourt set. Drafting Precious Achiuwa gives them versatility in the frontcourt. They can play him three through five and let him wreak havoc on the defensive end of the floor. Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum limit his weaknesses with their floor spacing abilities.
